The Grain Exchange has been using the freshest ingredients to bake their gluten-free treats since 2008. They started out selling their products by word of mouth and eventually landed their goodies in over twenty different cafés and retail spots throughout PA, NJ, and NY. Not only do they sell baked goods, but also gluten-free flour.
The Grain Exchange was growing rapidly, and their old website would not suffice anymore. They needed an updated, responsive website that they could easily manage themselves. It was also time to open an eCommerce shop so their customers could order baked goods and flour online for shipment. While The Grain Exchange already had a logo and a color scheme, we agreed to enhance them to create a solid brand to be carried throughout their website, packaging, and other marketing materials.
First, we addressed their logo and made some tweaks that seem small, but make a great overall impact on their brand. The logo was originally one color, but now the grain is golden yellow and stands out beautifully against the purple. We picked a new, interesting font for the tagline to bring an organic, homemade-feel to the brand. Colors were adjusted as well to brighten everything.
After refreshing their look, we were excited to use it in their new flour packaging design. With hopes to sell the flour in stores eventually, we wanted the bag to stand out against the others. If you’re scanning a shelf for gluten-free flour, this bag will be the first you see with the large title and bold, interesting colors. It’s also important that the consumer is comfortable with what they’re buying due to their specific diet, so we designed a window in the bag to view the product.
We then moved to build a responsive, eCommerce website using WordPress for easy content management. For anyone looking to satisfy their sweet tooth despite diet restrictions, The Grain Exchange’s website will be the place they feel comfortable ordering from. We wanted the design to feel fresh and clean, similar to the baked goods they sell. Shopping online is simple and easy on this website. Different product categories allow the customer to filter the baked goods and quickly find what they’re looking for. Specialty products are fully-equipped with dropdown boxes and checkboxes to give the customer ordering options. If users prefer to purchase their items in person, they can use the interactive map to pull their location and find the closest retail spots. It is important that an eCommerce website feels safe and secure, which means quality design, thoughtful organization, and flawless functionality.
