What is the difference between a logo and a brand?

As a branding agency, we often hear the terms "logo" and "logo design" used interchangeably with terms like "branding" and "brand development". So, what's the difference?!

A logo is a visual representation of a brand, while a brand is a more holistic concept that encompasses the company's name, mission, values, products, and services. A logo is typically a simple, recognizable image that is used to identify a brand. It can be a wordmark, a symbol, or a combination of both. A good logo should be memorable, distinctive, and relevant to the brand's identity.

A brand, on the other hand, is a more complex concept. It is the sum total of all the ways in which a company is perceived by its customers, employees, and other stakeholders. It includes the company's name, logo, products, services, marketing campaigns, and customer service. A strong brand is built over time through consistent messaging and execution.

While a logo is an important component of a brand, it's not the only thing that makes up a brand. A logo should be relevant and easily recognizable, while a strong brand is built on a foundation of trust, credibility, and a clear understanding of the target audience.
